Hotel Gorinchem Phase 1
In 2020, DMT Modular, in collaboration with Zederik Bouw, executed a significant renovation of Hotel Gorinchem. This project not only gave the hotel, which has welcomed guests since 1968, a fresh appearance but also substantially increased its capacity. The hotel has expanded from the original 18 rooms to 56, making it more attractive to both business travelers and tourists eager to experience the historical charm of Gorinchem.

Transforming Spaces for
Modern Comfort
Modern Comfort
The renovation began with the demolition of the first floor of the hotel. This step cleared the way for the installation of new modular floors. DMT Modular utilized innovative prefab modular units, which were assembled like a ‘construction kit.’ This approach ensured an efficient and streamlined build process. On the new first and second floors, modern hotel rooms, two boardrooms, two meeting rooms, and comprehensive sports facilities were realized. These flexible and multifunctional spaces contribute to the hotel’s appeal as a central meeting point for both business and recreational purposes. The ground floor retained its original walls, but this level was thoroughly updated as well. DMT Modular expanded and refurbished the existing ground-floor restaurant, now called Ocre. This new restaurant offers guests a contemporary dining experience with an updated kitchen and an inviting ambiance. The lobby and the hotel rooms on the ground floor were also renovated to meet the latest standards of comfort and style.
Elevating Outdoor Spaces
Outdoor Space and Accessibility
A striking feature of the renovation is the spacious new terrace, inviting guests to relax and enjoy the outdoors. This terrace, equipped with glass ‘windbreaks,’ provides a comfortable place to sit regardless of weather conditions. The panoramic views of the surroundings create an ideal setting for both relaxation and social interaction. To enhance accessibility to Hotel Gorinchem, new roads and parking facilities were constructed. These developments ensure ample parking space, essential for guests arriving by car. The combination of a renewed hotel, a large terrace, and easy access makes Hotel Gorinchem an attractive destination for anyone visiting the region.
Sustainable Construction Techniques
This project stands out due to the use of modular construction techniques by DMT Modular. After demolishing the existing floors, a structure was built on the ground floor to support two prefabricated modular units. These units required only utility connections and assembly, significantly reducing the renovation timeline and CO₂ emissions. Prefab construction in a controlled environment ensures consistent quality in the finishing. Additionally, the modular units offer future reuse potential. If the hotel loses its function or needs to change purpose, the blocks can be easily relocated. This makes the project future-proof and meets the growing demand for flexible, sustainable construction solutions.
